Video game industry gives the U.S. economy a needed boost

Video games have come a long way since Pong, Pac Man and Space Invaders. Economists Incorporated reports that a study done for Entertainment Software Association called “Video Games within the 21st Century: The 2010 Report,” showed $ 5 billion was going economy in 2009 because of these games. Annual growth for the industry went up 10 percent between 2005 and 2009, or seven times the growth of the U.S. economy alone.

Video games make it so jobs can be created

ESA CEO Michael Gallagher said in a press release that job creation within the video game industry has continued at a “rapid pace,” while making “an important contribution to our nation’s economy when stimulating technological innovations and expanding the impact of games on our daily lives.” The survey shows us that 32,000 have jobs with video games typically with an average salary of $ 89,781. More than 120,000 individuals have jobs because of video games.

California is the golden state for the industry

Video game workers largely live in California. It provided more than$ 2.6 billion in direct and indirect compensation to its employees in 2009. The state benefited from this too. $ 2.1 billion in revenue was received.

In other states, Texas ranked second with 13,613 employees, followed by Washington (11,225). Virginia also showed tremendous growth from 2005 to 2009, expanding its video game industry presence by a whopping 77 percent.

Giving entertainment a value

During a recession, entertainment expenditures are among the first things to be downsized in a family’s spending budget. Consoles cost between $ 200 and $ 500 for video game systems. This is why it appears costly to work with video games. You are looking at more for the games too. $ 20 to $ 60 is required for every game. Since movie prices have gone up, it seems like video games may be better considering one can spend between 40 and 100 hours playing most of the games bought. Video games can really help struggling children. It helps with development and hand-eye coordination. The video game industry has had a good effect. The U.S. economy is feeling it.
