Video game industry gives the U.S. economy a needed boost

Video games have come a long way since Pong, Pac Man and Space Invaders. Economists Incorporated reports that a study done for Entertainment Software Association called “Video Games within the 21st Century: The 2010 Report,” showed $ 5 billion was going economy in 2009 because of these games. There was a 10 percent growth between 2005 and 2009 for the video game industry. This was good for the economy considering seven times the growth of the economy was had in this time frame.

Video games make it so jobs can be created

Job creation has been going at a “rapid pace” while making “an essential contribution to our nation’s economy when stimulating technological innovations and expanding the impact of games on our daily lives,” says ESA CEO Michael Gallagher. The video gaming industry regularly employs more than 32,000, and their average annual salary is $ 89,781, as outlined by the survey. Video games have made it possible for many within the U.S. to get jobs.

Most happens in California

Video game workers largely live in California. Compensation was a big part of their spending budget in 2009. $ 2.6 billion was given to direct and indirect employees. That translated into $ 2.1 billion in revenue for the state.

13,613 employees live in Texas with 11,225 in Washington. Virginia had a large expansion with a 77 percent increase between 2005 and 2009.

Value of entertainment

A recession means budget cuts in families. Usually entertainment is a part of this. Video gaming is pricey with PCs costing a ton and consoles being anywhere from $ 200 to $ 500. You’re looking at more for the games too. $ 20 to $ 60 is required for each and every game. But if a consumer can derive somewhere between 40 and 100 hours of playtime from a well-constructed game, the price seems much more reasonable, particularly when in contrast to more passive varieties of entertainment like movies, the price of which has skyrocketed in recent years. Video games can really help struggling children. It helps with development and hand-eye coordination. The economy is also doing better because of video games.
