Most of the western planet knows by now that “Sesame Street” had selected pop Katy Perry as the headline celeb guest to open its 41st season. The landmark children’s program is known for bringing out the inner kid in celebrities great and small, and Katy Perry’s appearance was no exception. Or it would have been, if her episode hadn’t been edited in a panic at the last moment due to a supposedly racy tunes video with the “Street’s” modern kingpin, Elmo. Elmo gave his thoughts on it.

The new York Times explains that Elmo was there. He wanted to defend his friend there. Elmo, super Grover and Executive Producer of “Sesame Street” Carol-Lynn Parente all appeared in front of an audience that thought Katy Perry’s mostly-covered breasts were inappropriate for children to view on the show.
The pulled song in question, a parody of Miss Perry’s pop hit “Hot ‘N Cold,” revolves around Elmo and Perry getting together for a play date. It’s easy to discover on YouTube. Perry was ready to play with Elmo. When she finds out he does not want to, she gets sad. The dress up clothes she has on are what numerous think about too revealing. Parents don’t like it. That is why there is so much controversy. It has turned into a “cause” for people on both ends of the spectrum.
Parente ’surprised at the volume of disapproving responses’
Stephanopoulos talked to Parente . She said “Sesame Street” might never, never produce anything that we thought was inappropriate.” ”Sesame Street” was just seeking to get a wider variety in the audience with younger parents. That is why Katy Perry seemed like the perfect fit. But the backlash obviously caused the production team to throw up its hands and give in to the base political instinct of the vocal minority.
For his part, Elmo reached out to Perry, saying that he hoped she would come back to “Sesame Street” for a play date.
”Elmo loves Miss Katy,” was his response.
Complainers get made fun of
Super Grover decided to play a part in making fun of the conservative parents. He wore a costume and asked if Stephanopoulos liked it. Without missing a beat, Super Grover then followed up with “It isn’t too revealing, is it?”
